inspiration

Uncle Pat and Aunty Magdaline Dumadag have nine children. They have been in the forefront of a model Christian family for decades. They have remained steady and rooted in the Catholic Church, God, prayer and music. I share this because our Thursday community night at Teo and Mason Matsuda’s home in Ewa Beach was blessed with the presence of the oldest Dumadag sibling, ‘Boy’ (Pat Jr.) and his wife Roxanne, along with their two children Ryan and Henia and cousin Rachel.

And on Thursday, June 20, heaven stormed the Matsuda’s home. God allowed us to feel the magnitude of his love for us and for each other. The power of God moved through each one’s voice and together we were the choir of angels. With arms stretched out and up, we could sense our heavenly Father reaching back to embrace us. Boy was so generous in leading us through song after song after song while playing his guitar. He also walked us through scripture and shared his story of how he wrote his masterpiece song “Living Water”. What a gem and a joy! Just to be among Boy, his family, other visiting BCCers, and the core was a total inspiration! At the end, I asked Boy to lay hands and pray over me. I had an interview with Dave Lancaster on Christian radio station 95.5FM The Fish the next morning.

It is true that when the praises go up, the power comes down. It was one of the best community nights we’ve had. It is important that we pray together as a family but equally important to belong to a faith community that prays for us and with us. May all of us be challenged to be fishers of men, introducing them to Jesus Christ. Let’s start with a simple invite into a faith community! And sing, sing, sing praises to God.

If interested, please email me and I’d be happy to send you the following:

1. Free cassette copy of my radio interview with Dave Lancaster on 95.5FM
2. More information regarding BCC Nights in your area.
3. Monthly mail-out newsletter. (Look for Boy Dumadag and his song “Living Water” in the August issue.)

REFLECTIONS

“Jesus’ Baptism”

Why did Jesus, the sinless one sent from the Father in heaven, submit himself to John’s baptism? John preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins (Luke 3:3). In this humble submission we see a foreshadowing of the “baptism” of Jesus bloody death upon the cross. Jesus’ baptism is the acceptance and the beginning of his mission as God’s suffering Servant (Isaiah 52:13-15; 53:1-12). He allowed himself to be numbered among sinners. Jesus submitted himself entirely to his Father’s will. Out of love he consented to this baptism of death for the remission of our sins. Do you know the joy of trust and submission to God?
