St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Advertise Now

REFLECTIONS

"Jesus' Baptism"

Why did Jesus, the sinless one sent from the Father in heaven, submit himself to John's baptism? John preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins (Luke 3:3). In this humble submission we see a foreshadowing of the "baptism" of Jesus bloody death upon the cross. Jesus' baptism is the acceptance and the beginning of his mission as God's suffering Servant (Isaiah 52:13-15; 53:1-12). He allowed himself to be numbered among sinners. Jesus submitted himself entirely to his Father's will. Out of love he consented to this baptism of death for the remission of our sins. Do you know the joy of trust and submission to God? SCHOOL PRAYER

By: A kid in Arizona

Now I sit down in school Where praying is against the rule For this great nation under God Finds mention of Him very odd.

If scripture now the class recites It violates the Bill of Rights And anytime my head I bow Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair could be purple, violet or green That's no offense; it's a freedom scene The law is specific, the law is precise Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall Might offend someone with no faith at all In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks They've outlawed guns, but first the Bible To quote the good book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen And the "unwed daddy" our Senior King It's inappropriate to teach right from wrong We're taught that such judgment do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles But the Ten Commandments are not allowed No word of God must reach this crowd.

Its scary here I must confess When chaos reigns the school's a mess So, Lord, this silent plea I make Should I be shot, my soul please take.

Amen.
