SIGNIS
CONCULDES ON “DA VINCI” FILM
Signis, the world organization of Catholic communicators concluded
that “the church has little to be concerned about” with
the film after watching film premiere.
In a communique, the group stated that the release of the film,
Da Vince Code, directed by Ron Hoards was much awaited by many Christians
from various backgrounds and sensibilities.
Signis contended that the film is simply a popular entertainment
and is far from being a cinema masterpiece. It only depicts an exciting
treasure hunt at the beginning and the wordiness of the drawn-out
twists towards the end will disappoint the anxious cinema-goers.
Futhermore, Signis observed that the novel attempted to persuade
its readers with some dubious hypotheses and some mumbo-jumbo theories.
The book suggested that Mary Magdalene bore the child of Jesus and
that the priory of Sion is a real medieval organization. It also
suggested that the Catholic church was engaged in a 2,000 year conspiracy
to cover up the truth and that the Catholic organization, Oppus
Dei, ordered or carried out a murder.
On the other hand, the film rather wants to please everyone and
not to upset them too much, Signis completed.
