THE CAKE
A
little boy is telling his Grandma how "everything" is
going wrong…school, family problems, severe health problems,
etc.
Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake. She asks the child if he would
like a snack, which of course he does. "Here… Have some
cooking oil." "Yuk," says the boy.
"How about a couple of raw eggs? " "Gross, Grandma!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"
"Grandma, those are all yucky!!!"
To which the Grandma replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad
all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way,
they make a wonderfully delicious cake! God works the same way."
"Many times we wonder why he would let us go through such bad
and difficult times, but, God knows that when He puts these things
all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust
Him, and eventually they will all make something wonderful."

| REFLECTIONS |
“Jesus’
Baptism”
Why did Jesus, the sinless one sent from the Father in heaven,
submit himself to John’s baptism? John preached a
baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins (Luke
3:3). In this humble submission we see a foreshadowing of
the “baptism” of Jesus bloody death upon the
cross. Jesus’ baptism is the acceptance and the beginning
of his mission as God’s suffering Servant (Isaiah
52:13-15; 53:1-12). He allowed himself to be numbered among
sinners. Jesus submitted himself entirely to his Father’s
will. Out of love he consented to this baptism of death
for the remission of our sins. Do you know the joy of trust
and submission to God?
